October 27th & 28th, 2026

ASSP New England Area 27th Annual Professional Development Conference & Exposition

The ASSP New England Area Chapters invite presenters for our annual Professional Development Conference (PDC) to submit proposals by April 15, 2026 for review by the PDC Planning Committee.  We expect to contact speakers around mid-May, and have a preliminary schedule in June.

Our PDC continues to provide opportunities for speakers to share their experiences, solutions to safety, health and environmental challenges, and help attendees understand emerging issues, technology and practices.  Your audiences are a mixture of old hands, mid-career and new entrants to our field.  Our schedules include sessions covering practical and technical programs, management techniques and soft skills. Interactive sessions, case studies and a focus on current problems have been well received.  Scheduled speakers are registered to attend either or both days of the PDC.

Presentations should be timed to run inside of 60 minutes including the question and answer portion (e.g. 45-50 minute presentation plus 5-10 minutes for Q&A).

Please note, we review all presentations submitted, and consider them for the majority break out sessions and our limited few general sessions.  In this process, we do not specifically solicit plenary session submissions, and the Committee may reach out separately to arrange for general session speakers.

Presenter technical considerations:

  • Each presentation room will have an LCD projector with a cable HDMI connector and screen with lapel or podium microphones as needed.
  • Note:  Smaller breakout rooms may not have microphones and amplified sound – you may let us know if you have a preference for having a microphone.
  • Speakers who have PowerPoint or other screen projected programs are required to bring their own computer, HDMI adaptor if needed.
  • Presenters utilizing audio clips or video with sound should bring their own speakers if they do not feel the speaker in the LCD projector will be adequate.
  • Tampering with projector set ups, cables and screens will not be tolerated.

How to prepare your speaker application:

  1. Please review this video for an overview of Bloom’s taxonomy, which is a requirement for the learning objectives of your session in order to secure IACET accredited CEU. While you draft the text of your session’s learning objectives, you can use this reference from Vanderbilt University, or this reference from ASSP.
  2. The title should be between four and ten words.
  3. Summarize your experience and background in 500 characters or less.
  4. Summarize your session topic in 250-1000 characters.
  5. Optional: provide citations for your presentation.

If you experience any difficulties with the submission process, please reach out to us at:  neareapdc@region8.assp.org
